Zoom Weddings

Covid19 has changed our lives.  Getting married virtually is simple and easy, as long as you have a marriage license.  Getting a marriage license is another discussion.

The following steps are required in order to get married virtually.

1.  Have a marriage license, prior to your wedding day, in the jurisdiction where the marriage will take place.
2.  Deliver (overnight or by hand) your marriage license package to me prior to the start of the ceremony.  The marriage license package includes: certificate of marriage (couple’s copy), court return copy, and officiant/minister’s copy (Maryland only).
3.  Both parties to the marriage must be in the same location (county/city/district) where the marriage license is drawn.
4.  Host the virtual marriage via Zoom if you’re inviting guests.  And don’t forget to invite me.
5. Be on time for the Zoom Marriage.

Getting the Court Souvenir Copy

When you mail or drop-off your Marriage License Package from the Court, please enclosed:

  1.  A self-address pre-paid envelope for the return of the certificate copy to you (Maryland only).  In DC, this document is emailed to you.

Certified Copy

The courts are backlogged with licensing request.  Getting a certified copy during this pandemic will take a lot longer than in the past.
You can make your request for a certified copy after contacting the court.  Ascertain how long it will take to receive one.  Then follow their written instructions on how to proceed.
